This is why you need to have a small diameter line. Not only do you have to have the right rod and reel for deep cranking, but it's important to have the right line. Silver Thread AN40 is great for crankbaiting because of its small diameter. Some line makers have a 12 lb test that has a .017 diameter, there's no way your crankbaits will get down to its maximum depth with that. So reach for something with an 8 or 10 lb test with a .010 or a .011 diameter. Pay attention to the diameter, it's the most important thing in crankbaiting.
