Spooling Line
By TIM HORTON
If you're anything like me, you don't get to spend enough time on the water as it is. You don't want to spend all day pulling out backlashes and dealing with line twists. It's real important to know the difference of spooling a baitcast reel versus a spinning reel. On a spinning reel, lay the spool down, label up. Put a little tension on your line and spool it all the way until it's about a quarter inch from the end of the spool.
On a baitcast reel it's a little different, what I like to do on a baitcast reel is spool it so the line comes from the top of the spool, put a little bit of tension on and again, spool it to where it's about a quarter of an inch full from the spool. Stick a pen, pencil or screwdriver through the hole in the center of the spool and have your parter hold it.
These tips will help eliminate a bad day of dealing with backlashes and line twists.
